Home-Made Sheep’s Milk Cheese and Sourdough

Remember that weekend class on cheese making the Princess and I took in June?

Home-Made Sheep’s Milk Cheese and Sourdough

The first cheese we made was ready just in time to take it with us to Boston, along with some of my sourdough, and share it with my parents (who were visiting) and my friends there. It was mild, but with a clean hint of sharpness. Delicious!

Kill the Taskbar, Kill the Distractions

Have been using Object Dock the last few days, and the best feature is the ability to kill the taskbar. Why?

Because now when an app is fullscreen, there are no distracting peeps from the system tray telling me that my RSS reader or email account needs my attention. I’ve just banged away on an important email (invention disclosure review with our IP lawyers) for one hour with no temptations to wander off somewhere else.

Update:

Launchy really helps, too. Especially the file indexing feature… alt-space, the first few letters of whatever document I am looking for, and bang, it’s open.

Fenway Park Panorama

Spent the weekend in Boston with my good friend Andrew and he took me to my first ball game. After all, sat thru a cricket game recently, so why not baseball? And where better than Boston, where we lived when I was a kid?

Took lots of pictures (click on the panorama below for the full-size version).

Andrew patiently explained the rules, and I understood them and got into the game, just like with Cricket. I think you just need to be in the ball park, not watching TV, to really get it.

Of course, the other point both outings had in common was the beer and one-handed meat-in-a-bun confections. The beer might have made the rulebook go down more smoothly.

We lost, but we had a good time.

Yep, the perfect iPod is out… and it is an iPhone without the phone and without AT&T: the iPod Touch.

It even allows web browsing over WiFi… perfect I say.

Must… not… buy. Trying… to… restrict… gadget… budget.

Hiking with the Centipedes

Blogged by Mathieu as Diary,Health,Photography — Mathieu Wed 5 Sep 2007 10:30

Monday we went for a hike at a local state park with a nice mix of forest, mild rock climbing and cool breezes off the lake.

Centipede

It lasted two and a half hours, and it was great. We had a small picnic lunch at the top of a vertical rock face plunging into the lake below (all of about two stories high, mind you), met some nice dogs and their owners, and took some bad photographs of trees. Hard subject, trees in a forest. Also some interesting insect life, including this handsome centipede racing across the forest floor.
